Evaluation of dimethyl fumarate in a mouse experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model of MS resulted in reduced spinal cord macrophage inflammation. Dimethyl fumarate is obtained in high purity by esterification of fumaric acid with methanol and catalytic sulfuric acid.
